Beautiful, bright, colorful food items make this a very cheerful painting that I call Fiesta. I've cut, pasted, collaged and overlapped items in creating this painting. Watercolor is the medium I've used along with a touch of acrylic to paint some of my favorite Mexican food items; peppers, salsa, a big juicy tomato and crisp moist lettuce clustered around a plate of pintos.

I began my art career using oil paints and I taught that medium for many years at my studio in Conway, Arkansas. A few years later I studied watercolors and acrylics and used these two water-based media almost exclusively for many years. Recently, however, I find myself reaching once again for my oil paints. It's rather like being reunited with an old friend I haven't seen in years. The body of the paint, the smell of turps, and the luminous quality of the painted surface are the reasons oil paint remains a timeless painting medium. I love painting with watercolor and acrylics in my studio but, I always use oils for Plein-air painting because its longer drying time is not affected by sun or wind.
